Like fetishes themselves, companies that create custom fetish videos are a diverse lot, even though there aren’t a whole lot of us out there. It’s a fairly specialized field.
But even so, there are a few basic pointers you can keep in mind when choosing a company to create your custom fetish videos, pointers which I’ve learned over the 15 or so years my company, Anatomik Media, has been shooting custom video content.
#5 Open Mind and Understanding Your Fetish
It almost goes without saying that any custom video producer who wants to reach clients in need of fetish videos has got to keep an open mind and be ready to take on projects that may be far outside his or her own personal tastes.
Custom fetishes may be a small slice of the adult industry, compared to the “meat and potatoes” porn that’s always been the staple of the adult industry (boy-girl / Hustler-type porn), but as the internet evolves, consumers are gradually finding themselves bored with the same-old same-old. Hence, the diversification of the adult market into all sorts of fun, crazy fetishes.
If the market is turning more and more towards fetishes, it makes absolutely no sense at all for any company touting itself as a custom fetish video producer to be close-minded about any particular fetish. Granted, there are particular fetishes that I and my company refuse to be a part of, but for the most part, custom video producers have to flexible and keep an open mind.
If the company you’re looking to hire is shy about getting their hands dirty in your particular fetish, (and your fetish isn’t something harmful or illegal), then you may want to avoid that particular company.
In addition, if a company you’re looking into seems far too steeped in any particular fetish, and that fetish seems way off the mark from the one you’re looking to create videos for, you may have a hard time getting that company to understand your fetish. And if they don’t understand your fetish, they probably can’t provide the quality of custom videos you need.
#4 Watch out for red flags!
“No surprises!” is the watchword when “getting into bed” with a custom video producer. If they insist you pay them in some strange way, or on a weird schedule, or with some bizarre, foreign currency payment system, it might be a sign that they’re not as legit as they say they are.
Use common sense. Many companies in the custom fetish industry are super-reliable, but some shouldn’t be in business at all. If your “Spidey sense” is tingling, it probably means you shouldn’t be doing business with that particular producer.
#3 Engaging in the process
One thing my company takes pride in is the fact that we really involve the customer whenever we do a custom fetish shoot. Some customers like to get extremely involved in the entire casting process, some like to get involved in the art direction or writing, and then others like to just hang back and let us do all the work.
It’s important to us to be able to offer that level of engagement to our clients, because fetishes are, well, fetishes. By their very nature, they’re specialized, and we want to make sure we get every detail right.
Some businesses in our field don’t care so much about that. If you’re one of those “hands off” types who doesn’t mind not being involved at all in the creative process, by all means, go with one of those “hands off” companies. Bottom line though, find out up front if the custom fetish producer you’re thinking about hiring allows as much engagement in the process as you’re looking for.
#2 Communication
I mentioned a little bit of this earlier in #4, but communication is absolutely vital. Any custom fetish video team worth its salt is going to respond to your emails and calls within 24 hours, be absolutely clear and brief in every communication they have with you, and not ever leave you with the feeling that your head is spinning or that you don’t understand what you’re purchasing.
Custom fetish video production is just like regular video production: it involves a lot of moving parts. It’s the responsibility of the company to keep you informed and up to date, using language you understand, and not bombard you with b.s. or technobabble or excuses as to why such-and-such fetish isn’t possible to shoot, etc.
Clarity, transparency, ease of communication. If it’s anything less, perhaps that company isn’t a fit for you.
#1 Signature
Finally, when creating custom fetish videos, you want to make sure you go with a producer who can deliver not only the fetish, but a *signature*. And what I mean by that is: uniqueness. Originality. A way of shooting the videos, or casting the talent, or setting the scene, and/or any combination of the above in a way that *stands out*.
You’re going to be paying this company to provide you with very, very specific fantasies, shot in a very, very specific way. It makes no sense at all to go with a custom content company that churns out fetish video after fetish video of similar-looking, vanilla-feeling videos.
You’re going with *custom*. And *custom* means *made to order*. Make sure the company you go with isn’t just calling their product “custom” while providing you with cookie-cutter fetish videos, cranked out in a sloppy, fast way.
“Signature” means that a company has a particular look or feel with every custom video it produces, but it also should mean that a company has the ability to tailor that signature to exactly what you’re looking for. Anything less than that and it shouldn’t be called “custom,” and you probably need to keep looking for a company that’s a better fit.
