Well Dressed Ladies is an ENF (embarrassed nude female) scene, which is a category we don’t shoot often enough. The appeal is specific: it’s not about nudity, it’s about the loss of control. The clothing matters because taking it away means something. Each woman gets stripped slowly, deliberately, while the other two commentate on her underwear choices and watch her squirm.
We shot this as a three-act structure. Penelope goes first, acting like she owns the room until the other two flip on her. Then Marjorie gets the same treatment. By the time they catch Lady Huffington trash-talking on the phone, the audience knows exactly what’s coming, and the anticipation is half the fun.
The performers played it with just the right amount of cattiness. Nobody’s scared, nobody’s a victim. It’s a power struggle where everyone ends up exposed. The “this is so unprofessional” reactions while someone’s unbuttoning your blouse landed exactly the way we wanted.
ENF works best when the setting is wrong for nudity. An office, a job interview, business clothes. The contrast does all the work.
